Kayla's STORY

Kayla Outlaw is an award winning vocalist and songwriter from Austin, Texas. She became interested in music at an early age and began taking guitar lessons at just 10 years old. In 2009, at 13 years old, she landed a top 50 spot on the Belgium iTunes Gospel chart for her acapella rendition of “Amazing Grace.” Throughout her school years she performed in musical theater with the Lake Travis Music Theatre and went on to play live music as an independent country music artist at many iconic Austin Venues, including Threadgill’s, (the venue that helped launch the careers of artists like Janis Joplin) The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, and Rodeo Austin in 2019.

Giving back to the community has always been important to her and cancer awareness is one of her passions, as her younger brother beat a 7 year battle with Leukemia in 2014. She went on to perform with The Fridayz Band for the official Susan G Komen Race For The Cure Austin in 2015 and also at the HEB Center in Cedar Park Texas for their Austin Spurs Pink Night for Breast Cancer Awareness in 2016.

In 2018 she was nominated by the Indie Music Channel for “Best Contemporary Country Song” in recognition of her songwriting abilities and also for “Best Contemporary Country Female Vocalist” in two of her original songs. She has taken her music nation wide by performing on Music Row in Nashville Tennessee, Hollywood Blvd in Los Angeles, and in the Wine Country of Southern Illinois.

One of her biggest honors in the Texas Country Music industry is being inducted as an honorary member into “The Gatesville Country Music Hall of Fame” in 2019.

Kayla appeared as a special guest on "CBS Austin" for their “We are Austin Segment” on June 24th 2020, where she was interviewed about the release of her debut original country EP “Loving you is Free.”

“Loving you is Free” was recorded and produced by 8 Hour Drive productions in Valdosta, Georgia with Rich Herring along with Barry Best, who has worked on projects for artists such as Lea Michelle. The EP also features award winning Nashville and Texas musicians including ASCAP number #1 song writer Drew Womack, the current lead lead singer of the band Lonestar, on the track “Sittin Shotgun.”

She is poised to release a brand new country EP and a Contemporary Christian Single in the coming months with 137 Productions' IMC award winning producer Connor Weinstein in L.A. She is currently a Worship Resident at Northlake Church in Lago Vista, Texas, where she loves pouring into their student led middle and high school bands. She is set to study music at Concordia University this coming fall 2022 Majoring with a BS in Music Ministry.
